At Craie Studio, we explore different leather weaving techniques to create bags that are both unique and durable.
One of the most refined methods we use is manual and artisanal weaving: Intrecciato. This is a historic technique recently brought back into fashion by Italian brands, particularly Bottega Veneta.

Intrecciato: A high-end weaving technique
Traditionally, leather braiding consists of cutting strips and interlacing them. Braiding is beautiful, however it will weaken slightly over time and the stitches will open. That's why we adopted Intrecciato, a technique that offers superior durability and finish.
This method involves taking a piece of leather and incising it to create regular slots. This operation is carried out using our perforation machine, also used for our Bibi bag.
Leather strips are then threaded through these slots by hand, using a long needle, thus creating a closed and robust braided pattern.
