Discover our woven leather bags: Craftsmanship and elegance combined
At Craie Studio, we explore different leather braiding techniques to create bags that are both unique and durable.
One of the most refined methods we use is manual and artisanal braiding: Intercciato. It is a historical technique recently brought up to date by Italian brands, particularly Bottega Veneta.
Intercciato: A high-end braiding technique
Traditionally, leather braiding involves cutting strips and intertwining them. The braiding is beautiful, however it will weaken slightly over time and the stitches will open. This is why we have adopted intercciato, a technique that offers durability and a superior finish.
This method involves taking a piece of leather and cutting it to create regular slits. This is done using our perforation machine, also used for our Bibi bag.
Strips of leather are then passed through these slits by hand, using a long needle, creating a closed, sturdy braided pattern.
Stylish and durable bags
Intercciato braiding consumes more leather and takes more time, but the result is worth it. This braiding is not only aesthetic but also very durable, ensuring that the bag maintains its shape and beauty over time.
We use this technique on several of our flagship models, including the Colorado, Nuage, Ballon and Mini Ballon.
